Preferred Dental Hygiene was started in 2007 when new legislation allowed Dental Hygienists to work on their own. It was started with one primary focus – to provide mobile dental hygiene services to those who for whatever reason were unable to get to a dental office for care.
Our mobile dental equipment allows us to provide dental hygiene services in the comfort of your home. We adhere to the College of Dental Hygienist's guidelines ensuring that current scientifically accepted infection control procedures are strictly followed.
Our first step after receiving a referral for treatment by the nursing home, or a family member is to come in and meet the client and do a preliminary assessment. After the initial meeting, we provide a written letter outlining what the next steps should be, the investment required and the reasons for our recommendations. Following approval to commence treatment, we complete a dental hygiene exam, and a thorough cleaning, or whatever the recommended treatment was. After each appointment with the patient we are in contact with the family to let them know how the appointment went, what was accomplished and what the next appointment should be. It is our philosophy that we are a partner in each client’s care not only with family members but the staff at the Long Term Care Facility. We are a team in providing care to the client and our goal is to help improve and maintain their oral health, and thus their overall health.
